Plantee Review: Earning by Snapping Meals — What to Know

Prior to finding out about Plantee, if someone had jokingly hinted at the possibility of earning money by snapping images of meals, I’m not sure I would believe. As I was scrolling around social media in search of my daily bread as usual, I saw some posts about the app and after doing my due diligence, I decided to check it out and in this article, we will find out some of the key things to know about the app and my little experience so far.

If you’re the type of person who enjoys eating plant based meals as in someone who doesn’t like eating animal proteins so much, then I strongly believe this app is well suited for you. Reason is, you don’t just snap and upload random meals to Plantee, only plant-based meals are accepted and paid for.

Therefore, voracious meat eaters can sit this out at this point. I’m trying to save you the whole stress of reading something you wouldn’t be able to apply due to your love for meat lol.

What’s Plantee?

Plantee is a mobile application that rewards users monetarily for snapping and uploading plant-based meals. Meaning, veggies heavy foods can be uploaded to the app and if the moderators confirms that it doesn’t have any trace of animal protein, it will be approved and the earnings added to your balance.

The app utilises cryptocurrency reward system. Meaning, whatever you earn gets credited to your USDC balance to be withdrawn once you are able to attain the threshold. Hence, you’re to create an account and start taking clear photos of your plant based meals to earn passive income.

There is an added perk for people who refer others. If you are able to convince a group of people or your close friends to start uploading their own meals to the app, your earnings increase per meal uploaded by your referrals and everything gets added to same balance.

What Else Does It Offer?

Like I said, Plantee has a referral program. However, unlike many other reward based platforms, there is no fixed amount to earn per referral and you don’t get rewarded immediately your referrals onboard to prevent abuse.

In order to earn from the uploads of your referrals, they need to be active. Each meal successfully uploaded by people who registered with your referral code or link gets you $0.02 upon approval.

Hence, being able to invite a lot of active users could unlock a steady stream of passive income as there is no limit to the reward as long as your referrals keep uploading their meals. But it’s not as easy it seems. Why? The reason is, not all uploads get approved. As a matter of fact, the uploaded meals have to be fully plant-based with no traces of animal protein in order for the submission to be approved.

If your referrals’ submissions keep getting rejected for any reason, you won’t be credited with any bonus regardless of the number of referrals you may have referred to the platform.

How to Get Started

The first step is to Download Plantee from Google Playstore or App Store as application is available on both operating systems.

Create an account with your real details then you will be logged into the main dashboard to start uploading your meals. But the UI might be quite complex for you for the first time.

To start uploading your meals, click on Post and read the instructions thoroughly before you proceed to avoid rejection. Snap a clear image of your meal and upload. if you are confused at any point, navigate to the next section, which is Feed to see the kind of meals being uploaded by others to have an idea of what is expected and what is not.

You can track your earnings by clicking on Profile > Earnings to see your balance and the history i.e. where your earnings are from. Based on what I’ve noticed, you earn anywhere between $0.10 – $0.15 per meal approved.

It is not a get rich quick scheme. You would have to make it a routine to earn up to the threshold as the earnings can be slow without referrals and if you don’t usually eat plant-based meals.

Want to refer people? Click on Profile > tap on the share icon at the top tight corner > then you will see the Invite friends option. Clicking on it will copy the link to your clipboard. Share it to friends and people who may be interested in what the app offers.

Withdrawal Conditions

Plantee App minimum withdrawal at the time of writing this article is $5 USDC. You can place withdrawal once you have earned up to this amount by clicking on Profile > Earnings, there you will see the withdraw button.

You are to withdraw to any crypto exchange that supports USDC on Base network. Payment is automated, so upon submitting the request, the money will be instantly processed and credited to your balance.

Automated payment system also means you need to be sure of the address you’re withdrawing to otherwise your money might be lost.

Pros

Overall, here are some of the pros or upsides of participating;

• Smooth app navigation. You won’t be subjected to annoying adverts during navigation. Everything is smooth and mobile friendly which is not typical of most earning apps or platforms
• Reasonably Low Minimum withdrawal threshold. $5 is not very reasonable considering the very little effort required to earn.
• Automated payment processing. Manual payment is not desirable in any way to someone like me.
• Fairly rewarding referral program. Everything is based on how active your referrals turn out to be — which is also very okay.
• Free to earn! This is actually the most interesting part. It’s quite rare to find a platform that pays users for free these days.

Cons

is Plantee without some downsides? The answer is NO. Of course there are some things about it that may not sit right with many users;

• Limited withdrawal methods. Seems only cryptocurrency is allowed. I was expecting at least more than one payment method for the sake of flexibility. Not everyone is knowledgeable in cryptocurrency.
• Not so rewarding. Getting 10-15 cents per meal uploaded is paltry and most people won’t be moved by such.

Final Verdict

Plantee App is Legit and Standard. It’s been around for years now and since, there’s been little to no negative feedback from the users. They are being funded to encourage people to embrace plant based meals instead of eating animal proteins therefore, the images are submitted serve as proof that they’re achieving their goals.

The few downsides have already been mentioned. I am yet to make any withdrawal from the app but I have seen proofs and heard directly from someone who has been paid by the platform. At the moment, I’m still earning towards the minimum threshold and when I eventually hit the threshold, I would probably make another publication explaining the entire process.

But for now, I think the app is worth it. You don’t need a VPN to access it as it’s available in almost all countries of the world.
