MTN Trivia Thursday is back! Well, I say it’s back not because I’ve participated in it previously — I am just repeating the exact words of the telecommunications giant when they notified us of the reward program. As the name entails, it has to do with answering some questions every Thursday to stand a chance of winning either shopping voucher or CashToken. For what it’s worth, the questions are not technical or difficult in any way.
I had firsthand experience and from what I noticed, anyone who has ever used MyMTN application at any point in time or even has some general knowledge about the network will be able to answer the questions correctly. The only area I feel some people may have issue is in management of pressure or what it’s commonly referred to as tension.
In the course of checking out the trivia for the first time, I was feeling tensed and it made me pick a wrong answer for a question I knew. My gut feeling was against the selection, I just insisted cause I was running out of time. Speaking of time, that brings us to another important thing you should bear in mind if you have plans of participating next week. The questions are actually timed and if you fail to come up with an answer within the stipulated time, you have failed that question.

What is MTN Trivia Thursday About?
The Trivia Thursday is a reward program set up by MTN to assess how well customers know their network and the self care application. Therefore, most of the questions either have to do with general knowledge of the network or a feature on the self care app.
However, it’s not just a rewardless question and answer session as customers who successfully answer the three questions on time will be instantly giving a shopping voucher and those who are unable to complete the entire questions without fail, will be granted a CashToken.
The trivia happens on Thursdays between 12pm — 2pm. But from what I experienced on the first day, it starts some minutes past 12pm. I’m not saying you shouldn’t check by the exact stated time but just don’t have high hopes as it may start a bit later than the stated time. In all, just ensure you’re ready and on the webpage or MyMTN application around the time — moreover, as the saying goes, it’s always better earlier than later. Be on the webpage before it starts so you can be among the few users to secure the shopping vouchers.
Prizes to Be Won
There are only two category of prizes to be won and they are as follows;
- 20,000 Naira Shopping Vouchers
- CashToken
You can only stand a chance of winning a voucher if you’re fast enough and get into the trivia on time I.e. a few minutes after it’s commencement or immediately it commences and also correctly answer whatever questions you are asked 100%.
But if you are unable to answer all the questions correctly or for any reason get into the trivia at a later time (even if it’s within the stated time) you will be given CashToken even if you end up answering all the questions correctly.
Speaking from experience, MTN mostly gifts users Suregifts vouchers that can be used to buy airtime directly from Suregifts or be used to make orders directly from Jumia and many other indigenous shopping platforms such as Konga etc.
How to Participate in MTN Trivia Thursday
There are only two ways to get in, through the MyMTN app or directly through the trivia webpage. Personally, I used the website as it proved to be smoother and better for the most part.
Simply login with your MTN number to Trivia Webpage
An OTP will be sent to your line to confirm. After entering the code, you will be shown the option to start the trivia. Like I said, you will be asked three simple questions about the network or a feature on their app and if you correctly answer, you will be either rewarded with the voucher or CashToken.
The shopping voucher will be sent to you within a business day and can be used to make purchases on popular Nigerian online stores.
What’s The Importance of MTN CashToken?
I know this could be the first time some of you are hearing about this CashToken. Well, it’s not entirely useless as some presume. If you are not so lucky to win the voucher, the remaining prize for you automatically would be the CashToken.
But what can you do with it? Well, as someone who has redeemed CashToken in the past. It can be used to redeem airtime, buy data, pay bills etc. additionally, there is an option to cash out the CashToken directly as money to your preferred bank account details.
How is it done? It’s quite easy. All subscribers of the network can access his or her CashToken wallet by dealing *6700*8# and select CashToken wallet, you can choose to set up a transaction pin for your wallet and on that page, you will find the option to check your CashToken wallet balance, buy airtime, cash out directly to bank amongst many other options.
So, the CashToken isn’t entirely useless. But at the time of writing this article, MTN hasn’t really given anyone the CashToken for us to know the worth of what is given to customers.
When is Trivia Thursday Ending?
There is no stated end to the program at the moment. It just started recently, so we’re expecting it to run for a few months before maybe they decide to end it. For now, focus on answering the questions and winning vouchers.
