At this point, I think the word MiniPay has slowly become a household name for most web3 enthusiasts or people who are passionate about saving money. However, does that take away the fact that, some individuals still have little to no clue what the platform is about? The answer is NO — and that is the motivating factor for the publication of this review.
This is not going to be the usual praise singing promotional content aimed at attracting users for the sake of getting referrals. I’m going to be telling all I know about the MiniPay App, my experience using it for over two years now and how I am currently earning over a dollar without breaking a sweat.
What’s MiniPay About?
You’ve probably been hearing about MiniPay from people on social media and even seeing some adverts. But what is this MiniPay sef? Well, it’s a Stable currency wallet owned by Blueboard Limited — an Opera Group and it’s powered by the Celo blockchain, meaning that transactions are done on Celo chain.
The application stands out because it makes sending and receiving money possible for people in Africa and beyond using just phone numbers. Unlike conventional crypto wallets that provide users with alphanumeric characters commonly referred to as “addresses“, which sometimes, complicates the whole crypto thing for newbies.
MiniPay makes it possible for users to transact using just phone numbers or mobile numbers. You can literally send money to a family member abroad from the comfort of your home using their phone number without having to ask for address. As long as the phone number is active on the app.
The application also offers users various opportunities to earn passive income and the most prominent amongst their offers or features is the “MiniPay Boost”.
The Boost is not new anymore as it’s been ongoing for over two years now and have since been refined severally — they’ve made it more rewarding at some point to get more users active and even tuned down the reward also. Honestly, for someone like me who’s been on the app for over two years, I must say it’s been one hell of a rollercoaster enjoying the Boost feature.
What’s MiniPay Boost?

MiniPay Boost as the name implies is an offer from the platform that rewards users with up to 2% interest on a weekly basis when they save up to $1 and above and complete some activities.
In the past, the Boost was strictly for people who deposit USDT and hold on MiniPay but like I said, it’s undergone several changes and at the time of writing this article, you stand to earn the Boost when you hold USDT and also, when you complete tasks or activities.
So, simply “saving money” as people like to call it on MiniPay won’t cut it anymore. You’re expected to show a level of activity on the app on a daily and weekly basis in order to continue earning the 2% boost — it’s also not unlimited. The rewards are capped at $10 per week, meaning no matter how much you save or what you do, you can only earn the aforementioned amount per week.
How to Get Started
In order to access the features available on MiniPay, you are either expected to download the application from either Google Play store or App Store.
Alternatively, if you’re an Android user, you can download Opera Mini browser, navigate to the mini apps, you will see MiniPay as one of the options. Click on it to access the service.
To create an account, simply login with your Google Account but for people on iOS, you must sign up using the main Application and you’re given the chance to onboard using your Apple Account.
As part of the verification process, you’d have to enter your WhatsApp number for phone number verification. An OTP will be sent to your WhatsApp, use it to verify your account to gain full access to the service.
As a stablecoin wallet that’s also non-custodial, you control any deposit made on the platform. Therefore, your keys are backed up to your Google account.
There is also an option to manually save your key phrase. But it’s very sensitive and delicate. Should you decide to save it manually, ensure you’re keeping it where no human can access it.
As access to the key phrase means access to your funds. Therefore, it’s best to just leave it backed up automatically to your Google account.
How Do You Access the Key phrase?

You can access it by clicking on your profile icon at the top left corner, tap on About > Secret recovery phrase. After requesting to view the phrase, you will be asked to wait for an hour to unlock it as a security measure.
Once the one hour countdown finishes, head back to the about page again to secret recovery phrase to see your secret phrase. Then, you can copy it or write it down on a piece of paper where only you know what it means or what it’s for.
Steps to Fund Your Wallet
The good news is, MiniPay has deposit and withdrawal partners. For Nigerians, I don’t know about other countries. You can deposit using Naira by utilising one of their partners such as; Fonbnk, Partna, Cashramp, Yellow card, Quidax etc.
If you don’t have crypto to deposit and don’t have access to vendors who could sell to you, simply follow the steps below;

Step 1 — Click on Deposit, select NGN (Naira) then enter the amount you want to fund your wallet with in Naira.
Step 2 — you will be shown the dollar equivalent of the Naira you entered and a list of offers from their various partners.

Step 3 — select your preferred deposit partner (I would advise you to either go with Cashramp or Fonbnk) after that, you will be asked to send money to an account number and bank. You need to be careful at this point because, a code will be included in the deposit page that you must include in the description of your transfer in order for the system to successfully track and confirm your transaction.
Step 4 — transfer the required amount and submit the request. If you’re using Fonbnk, all you have to do is confirm you’ve sent the money and wait for the system to automatically verify your deposit. But for Cashramp, you’d have to manually upload the transfer receipt in order for the receiver to confirm.
Like I said, in order to start receiving the daily boost, you need to HOLD at least $1 in your balance and also, complete the required tasks. But before we get to that, it’s important to mention that, you can also fund your MiniPay wallet using crypto currency.
Let’s say you have USDT in other exchanges like Binance or Bybit or you can buy from vendors — i.e. you’re not a tabula rasa in crypto currency. In that case, you can fund by clicking on Deposit > this time around, select Wallet or Exchange.

An address will be generated for you. Copy the address from MiniPay and send USDT on Celo Network to the address from your exchange.
Once done, the money will be instantly added to your balance and then you can proceed to the next set of steps; which is to complete the tasks.
Boost Rewards Tasks

Some months ago, the emphasis shifted from just holding stablecoins to actually completing certain tasks to continue receiving boost.
Each task is weighted differently. From my calculation, some tasks increase your boost by up to 20 cents. What are these tasks? There are 8 tasks or activities to complete on the app to enjoy full boost and they are as follows;
- Hold at least $1
- Claim Daily Reward
- Refer At Least One User
- Make a deposit of up to $2 using local currency
- Send Upto $1 to 3 users in your country
- Send Upto $1 to a User Abroad i.e. outside your country.
- Use the Pay Feature
- Spend Upto $1 on Bill Payments
You’re expected to complete the tasks at least once weekly. i.e. every 7 days, you’re to return to the app and complete the aforementioned tasks to continue receiving up to 2% weekly interest.
However, the daily reward claim is a daily thing. Open MiniPay app daily and head to the Daily Reward section to claim some cents to continue earning higher boost. If you skip a day of not claiming the daily reward, your boost will be reduced.
How to Claim Daily Reward

The daily reward mini-app is accessible via the apps section or on the homepage. Click on the apps section as shown in the screenshot above, then locate Daily Rewards, tap on it and proceed to claim the reward for the day.
You’re to repeat this daily reward claim every day in order to keep earning higher boost. Any day you fail to claim the daily reward, your tasks checklist will be 7/8 which automatically means, your boost will be less than it was the previous day.
Is MiniPay Legit Or Scam?
MiniPay is a LEGIT stable currency wallet owned by Opera. Beyond the Boost feature, it’s a feature-packed wallet that makes it easy for users to send and receive money as well as pay bills in many countries of the world.
In recent times, they’ve also introduced their Virtual Dollar card for digital entrepreneurs and also, dollar accounts for freelancers in third world countries like Nigeria.
There is no doubt as to whether the app is legit. It’s not a pyramid scheme nor an investment. Hence, any deposit held on the app are safe and controlled by you, the user. Non-custodial wallets are not being controlled by the administrators. Your money is in your hands.
My Take On MiniPay Boost

I have been using MiniPay for more than two years now and I’ve watched them grow from just a mere stable coin wallet that allows users send and receive money through mobile numbers to a whole crypto powerhouse that can be used to do alot!
You can earn money via various means on the app. If I should start breaking down all the features, this article will end up boring most readers. It’s best for you to sign up and start unveiling the features yourself.
One of the features I’ve personally enjoyed the most is the Boost Feature. I’m a big time believer of saving money for the future but, ever since I joined MiniPay, the habit became even more rewarding. It’s been super rewarding and I strongly believe you’d enjoy it.
However, one thing you should expect is sudden changes in rewards. That’s one of the things I’ve gotten used to over the past months. You can wake up one day and they’ve tuned down the rewards or introduced some new features that could either increase the rewards or reduce it.
Don’t expect it to always be fixed. This year alone, I think they’ve reduced and increased the Boost Rewards more than four times. It’s never so stable — well, I guess it’s in line with the popular saying that, change is the only constant thing.
Apart from that, every other thing about MiniPay and the Boost feature is top tier for me and ever since it got launched, I’ve been consistently earning over $1 daily for holding $500 – $1,000 and completing tasks. It’s fair enough for me.
Conclusion
MiniPay Boost is an incentive in place to reward users who hold USDT and also, complete tasks on the app. I believe I’ve explained all you should know about the feature and a little on the legitimacy of the application as a whole.
